Scans, scores, file names, and timelines stay on your Mac. MacReveal goes online for license checks, a daily update check, and network tests you start yourself. Never for analytics or advertising.
What stays on your Mac
- Storage scans and treemap data (local SQLite database)
- Cleanup history and undo records
- Performance timeline samples
- Your license activation token (macOS Keychain)
What MacReveal sends, and when
- License checks with macreveal.com: your key and a hashed machine identifier when you activate or deactivate, and when the app revalidates.
- Update check with macreveal.com: an automatic version lookup, about once a day. No system profile is sent.
- Speed test, only when you start it: downloads a test file from Cloudflare.
- Network check, only when you start it: reads your public IP from Cloudflare and loads Apple's captive portal page to spot Wi-Fi sign-in screens.
Website and payment
Purchases on macreveal.com go through Dodo Payments, which handles your card details. We store your email and license details so one key works on one Mac and you can get your installer again. License events keep a hashed IP address to stop abuse. We never receive your files.
Your license is lifetime, so we keep this for as long as your license exists. Contact support to have it deleted. Deleting it also removes your license, and MacReveal will no longer work on your Mac.
Your choices
Delete MacReveal's local database at any time from Privacy inside the app. Deactivate this Mac in Settings to release the license. For anything stored on our side, contact support.
